Course Policies
Classroom Etiquette & Standards of Conduct
The key to success in an on-line course is keeping up with your work. Due dates for assignments are listed within the class shell. Plan your time accordingly so you do not miss due dates or deadlines. You are expected to apply critical thinking skills and, where appropriate, to engage in civil and scholarly discourse.
Attendance
The college requires the implementation of an attendance policy and adherence to this policy applies equally to all students. Attendance for online classes is defined by the Department of Education as taking an assessment, submitting an assignment, contributing in a chat or discussion, or emailing the instructor. Logging into an online course and then logging out is not considered attendance in an online class. Students must engage in an academically related activity. Students are expected to regularly and punctually attend all classes in which they are enrolled. If you have three or more unexcused absences, you may be dropped from the course. It is your responsibility to obtain missed handouts or learn of changes to the schedule. All absences are considered unexcused unless you notify me in advance. Students are responsible for notifying their instructors in advance of a planned absence and must complete all class assignments as required. Students are responsible for following registration deadlines and understanding the ramifications of dropping or withdrawing from a class.
Late Work
If you know that you will miss an assignment (such as an exam or checkpoint), coordinate with the instructor beforehand to schedule completing the assignment. Any assignment missed without prior coordination (at least 48 hours’ notice) will be graded “0”. There will be no “make up” assignments or extra credit assignments.
