Determining Stature

Instructions

For this quiz you will be given the ancestry, biological sex, and femur length of an individual and you will need to determine what that person's stature is in feet and inches. Using the formula will give you centimeters, but that will need to be converted to feet and inches. If you type "centimeters to feet converter" into google it will give you a conversion calculator. Below you will find the equations needed to determine stature based on male and female and black and white ancestry. To use the equation, here is an example:

You have a white male, femur length of 41 centimeters. What you would do is look for the equation that has fem, fib is for fibula measurements, and make sure it is for a white male. Once you have that you would insert 41 into the formula in place of fem.

2.38(41) + 61.41 = 158.99 cm = 5' 2" plus or minus 3.27 cm (the plus or minus is in the standard error column of the formula table)
